Septic Evaluation

Cost of Septic Evaluation Only $265.00

Krause Home Inspection Service, Inc. will inspect your septic system using the most modern

techniques and procedures.

We begin by visually inspecting all components of the system, including but not limited to the treatment

tank, dosing tank (if applicable), and the drain field.

Treatment Tank - We always request that the lid to the treatment tank is revealed so that we can open

the treatment tank to evaluate the condition of the interior components. At this time, we will also take

notice of the water level because high or low water levels will alert us to any possible leaks or problems with the tank.

Note: The treatment tank is required to be located and exposed prior to the septic inspection.

This work is generally done by the seller or the seller's agent.

Can't Find the Treatment Tank?  No Problem

For an extra charge, (Usually paid by the seller) Krause Home Inspection Service, Inc. can locate the

treatment tank using the most sophisticated electronics. By flushing an electronic transmitter down the

toilet, we use a very sensitive receiver to locate the transmitter which is now in the underground tank.

By locating the underground receiver, we are actually locating the treatment tank. Ask Mr. Krause

for rates for this service which does not include the actual digging of the treatment tank. (Digging of the

treatment tank is not included in the cost and is generally paid for by the seller)

Lift Tank     The lift tank is needed if the drain field is higher than the treatment tank and is used to pump

the effluent to the drain field. We will open the lid to the drain field and visually inspect the tank and the

electrical connections for defects and deterioration.  At this point in time, we will activate the pump to make

sure that it is operating properly and to make sure that it is sitting on a 4" block as required by the

Pennsylvania Code. We will check to make sure the high water alarm is operating properly and on a

separate circuit from the pump.

Distribution Area   The distribution area can be one of many designs, such as but not limited to an

elevated sand mound, seepage trench, seepage bed etc. The drain field is designed to introduce effluent

back into the soil and will be probed prior to the introduction of water. Different drainage systems will

have different limits when it comes to saturation. Krause Home Inspection Service, Inc. had completed

basic and advance courses in septic inspections and is knowledgeable in this area.
